My Services

Here are a few examples of the kind of services Christopher Hall Design provides.

Graphic Design Conversions

Graphic Design Conversions

I have completed many conversions of graphic designs into fully functional, interactive XHTML / CSS websites. I focus on using Cascading Style Sheets to separate the design of the site from the content, allowing for better compatibility across all web browsers. When designing a site, I use best practices for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and cross browser compatibility.

CMS Implementations

Content Management Systems

There's an old proverb, "It's better to work smarter than harder". That's what you are accomplishing when you install a Blog or Content Management System for your website. You gain powerful, extendable functionality from software packages such as Wordpress, ExpressionEngine, Drupal or Joomla!, to name a few that I have worked with in the past.

This software allows you or your organization to focus on the content of your website, making it easy to add pages, blog posts, photo galleries, videos, etc. Many of these blog or CMS packages are free and open source, with support options available for a monthly fee.

I can provide help installing, configuring and customizing these blog or CMS software packages, including the development of custom themes or "templates" based on an existing graphic design.

Custom Web Apps

Building Custom Web Applications

I have roughly 5 years experience with building custom web applications. My programming language of choice is PHP 5, and I am familiar with the CodeIgniter PHP Framework. I have built several web applications for clients that interface with a MySQL database, providing a way to manage ticketing for events, keep track of guests coming to an event, or generate an online program guide / schedule.

Website Maintenance

Website Maintenance

Do you have an existing website that just needs the occassional update? I have the skills to maintain any website out there, from a plain HTML site to a complex site in PHP / ASP / .NET or other programming language. This could be an intermediate step before implementing a CMS that gives your organization the power to manage and your website content.

WHAT I CAN DO

WHAT I DON'T DO

What can't I do? I'm a coder, not a graphic designer. I work on the technical side, not so much on the creative side. I'm much more skilled at coding websites, not creating designs for them.

If you have a good idea of what your website will need to look like, or what your web application idea needs to function like, i'm a good fit. However, if you're not sure what your website needs to look like, I suggest you contact a graphic designer for that.
